About Project

Berth 12 – Khor Al-Zubair Port

We at “Gulf Energy”, have completed the stages of rehabilitating and equipping berth 12 of Khor Al-Zubair Port, AlBasrah, to be an oil handling berth with international competitive specifications. Its significant specifications are:

o The seafront of Berth 12 has the capacity to accommodate carriers of up to sixty thousand tons, within a 200-meters seafront.
o The berth tanks are equipped with modern heaters that comply with the highest standards, to include ensuring that the temperature of the stored materials is maintained within the required range.
o The berth is equipped with an integrated flowmeters system to examine the quality of handling and the movement of materials transported from the entrance of the berth all the way to the carriers on the seafront.
o The berth is equipped with a bridge scale for land tanker trucks crossing to and from the berth for an accurate calculation of transported oil materials and sustainable supervision of their movement.
o Operations are controlled through an integrated information supervision system, known internationally as Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).
o An additional group of systems is linked to the SCADA system, the most important of which is the NFPA11 fire-fighting system, which contains sensors for rapid detection of combustion and high temperature.

Khor Al-Zubair:

o Our company is currently transferring Berth 1 in Khor Al-Zubair, from being a service berth to be an oil handling berth with special and distinctive specifications.
o Our company designed the rehabilitation process of Berth 1 in a way that allows it to be used in the future to accommodate regasification and gas storage platforms.
o The berth has now a seafront extending over 350 meters, allowing it to receive more than one oil carrier. The berth is also ideal for docking a Floating Storage Regasification Unit for liquefied gas storage known as FSRU.
o It is expected that the rehabilitation phase of Berth 1 will be completed before the end of 2024, and then operating processes and management will begin.
